Q. How does Botox® work?

Botox® is an FDA approved treatment that weakens the muscles where the injections are administered. This non surgical procedure is injected in a controlled way so that the injected muscles contract, making the wrinkles and lines on your face relax, giving you a younger and fresher look. Botox® blocks your nerve signals from reaching our facial muscles, thereby preventing your muscles from contracting. This in turn halts wrinkles, fine lines and crow’s feet from appearing on your face.

Q. How is Botox® administered?

Botox Injections

When administered by an expert practitioner like Dr. Pirani, it is a painless process that takes only a few minutes. After the initial consultation, the actual process itself takes just five minutes, where Dr. Pirani will administer a series of small injections just below the skin with Botox®.

Q. When can I see results of my Botox® procedure?

The results of the Botox® treatment is visible within a few days of the procedure, however, the final results will be evident after a period of 2 weeks.

Q. How long will my Botox® treatment last?

Depending on various factors like age, gender, muscle area and dilution strength, the results may vary from three months to six months. If you use Botox® frequently, the effects may last longer as your muscles are trained to relax over time.

Q. Are there any precautions I should take before and after my Botox® treatment?

Preparation for your Botox® treatment is a highly critical stage for the success of your procedure. Dr. Pirani highly recommends abstaining from alcohol at least a week before your Botox® treatment. To avoid bruising, you should also avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications as well as aspirin at least two weeks prior to your Botox® procedure. You should avoid strenuous activities for a day after your Botox® treatment to ensure that the impact of your Botox® procedure is not lessened.

In addition to this, you should avoid from lying down for 4 hours after your Botox® treatment, touching your face for makeup application, tanning or sunbathing until all swelling has subsided.

Q. Will the Botox® treatment hurt?

While a few patients have reported that the most they have felt is a slight pinch, those who are feeling concerned about the procedure can inform Dr. Pirani about their concerns who will then apply a topical numbing cream or even ice to the treatment area before the actual injection process.
