How is a Skin Lesion Removed?

In most cases, moles, cysts, and skin tags can be removed within 15 to 20 minutes under local anaesthesia while you are awake. Most patients find it to be a surprisingly pleasant experience.

After infiltrating the area around your lesion with a local anesthetic (“freezing”), Dr. Pirani will then remove the lesion and send it for analysis by a pathologist to diagnose the lesion. Small sutures are then inserted and a small dressing is applied. Dr. Pirani will follow-up with you regularly to ensure that you are healing well. Dr. Pirani will also institute a specific scar management plan with you to reduce scar visibility.

How Can a Scar be Improved?

Depending on the size, location, and nature of your scar, Dr. Pirani will create a unique scar revision plan to reduce your scar visibility. This may involve non-surgical and surgical techniques or a combination of both.
