The Difference Between Different Types of Facial Fillers
When it comes to achieving a more youthful appearance, facial fillers are a great way to give yourself a makeover that highlights your best features. There are many different types of fillers that can be best used in certain areas of the face. Each filler works differently, to help smooth your skin, eliminate wrinkles and give you an overall younger appearance.
We can help you to determine which filler will best solve your problem areas. Whether you have wrinkles, fine lines, or lips in need of plumping, there is a filler that will have you looking and feeling your best. While the concept of fillers is generally the same, how they are used varies. They can also be used in conjunction with one another to achieve desired results.
Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane and Emervel are all hyaluronic acid based fillers that are injected into the skin. They work by absorbing water to help plump up the areas where they were injected.
This filler typically lasts up to a year and is used most often to fill moderate and severe wrinkles on the face, commonly used to fill the lines that run from the nose to the mouth corners, but not typically the lips. Compared to other fillers, Juvederm is a smooth gel, which allows it to be malleable. Some variations of Juvederm also contain lidocaine which makes the injection process less painful. The lidocaine is used to numb the injection area. Optimal results are often accomplished after just one treatment, making it a very popular solution.
Restylane is very similar to Juvederm, and is used to fill moderate to severe wrinkles. It is also used as a lip plumper. It typically lasts from six to nine months, with some cases lasting up to a year depending on where on the face the gel is injected. The filler is not derived from animals, and is created in a laboratory setting.
Often used to fill deeper wrinkles and for adding volume to the cheeks, Perlane is a dense filler that has a heavier molecular weight. The particles not only are heavier, but they are larger in size which is what makes it so effective for use in deep wrinkles. This filler typically lasts up to six months. It can also be used as a lip plumper.
Emervel is a filler that can be used to fill facial lines, contouring and adding volume to the face. It can also be used as a lip enhancer. It comes in various levels of firmness depending on which variation of the filler is used. The size of the molecules varies for different injection locations. The filler can also be used with lidocaine to make the injection less painful.
