The Effects Of Weight Gain After Facial Injections

 In Facial Procedures

After any procedure, it’s always a good idea to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eating right and exercising are great ways to stay in shape and shave off unwanted pounds. Sometimes life keeps us busy and we aren’t able to stick with our fitness regime, or certain medications we are taking cause us to put on a few pounds. There are so many factors that can cause us to pack on unwanted – or in the case of pregnancy – wanted pounds.

Weight Gain

Generally speaking, gaining or losing a few pounds won’t harm your facial injections. If you’ve used facial fillers like Juvederm or Restylane, a small weight gain won’t make a difference in your appearance.

Conversely, if you’ve used fat injections, there is a chance that a weight gain will be highly visible in your face. Depending on where the fat came from, a weight gain may affect your look.

If you are the type of person to carry weight around your middle section, thighs or buttocks, chances are you will gain weight in your face as well since the fat for the injections was harvested from there. Because you are using fat from your own body, it is possible that the weight gain you would experience in your middle section, thighs or buttocks, will occur in the areas where you’ve had your injections.

Weight gain is caused by fat accumulation in a specific type of cell that takes longer to burn calories than others and not a specific part of the body. So, if you have too many of these slow calorie burning cells in your mid-section, it is where you’ll gain the most weight. When fat is harvested from your mid-section and put into your face, there is a small possibility that a weight gain will show in your face.

This is not to say you should avoid fat injections altogether. Most people do not notice any differences in their appearance if they’ve gained weight after facial injections. It is only in very rare cases that a patient will gain weight in their face because they’ve used their own fat for their facial rejuvenation procedure.

If a post-facial injection weight gain is a concern for you, you may be a better candidate for fillers like Juvederm or facial implants instead of using your own fat.
