How Kybella Works
If you have a double chin and want a sharper profile, you can choose to get Kybella treatments to get the unwanted fat removed from your chin area.
What is Kybella
Kybella, also known as Belkyra, is an injectable deoxycholic acid product that melts away unwanted fat, treating submental fullness. Even with regular exercise and weight loss, many people find it hard to lose a double chin and before Kybella/ Belkyra was introduced, liposuction was the only alternative.
How does Kybella Work
Kybella contains an active ingredient which is deoxycholic acid, a substance found naturally in our bodies that helps to breakdown fat. When Kybella is administered in the form of injections into the chin, Kybella attacks the submental fat, ensuring that fat cannot be stored in the injected area any longer, leading to a leaner profile, with a reduced double chin.
How many Kybella treatments are needed for best results
The number of treatments needed depends upon the amount of submental fat you have. Each individual has a different body type and structure. Your doctor will determine how many series of Kybella injections will be required per visit, based on your own personal goals as well as the amount and distribution of submental fat. You can see results within two treatments or more, with each treatment being at least a month apart.
How long is each Kybella treatment
Depending upon the number of injections you need per visit, each visit takes approximately fifteen minutes of your time. This is great if you are strapped for time, but want to look the best you can in your lunch break.
What is the recovery time after a Kybella treatment
There is very little downtime required with a Kybella treatment, with a person experiencing slight bruising, mild swelling or numbness to the treated area, which disappears within a few days.
What information should I disclose to my doctor prior to a Kybella treatment
You should inform your doctor about any possible medical conditions you may have and if you have had surgery done on your facial area, or if those surgery plans are in the pipeline. If you are or plan to get pregnant, you should also inform your doctor. If you taking any medications, especially blood thinners, or have had any cosmetic treatments done on your facial area, you must disclose all relevant information to your doctor to ensure a safe and successful Kybella treatment.
Who will be administering Kybella
Only a trained healthcare specialist should administer Kybella. At the Toronto Plastic Surgery Center, Dr. Pirani himself administers Kybella injections to his patients, ensuring that you get only the best when you make an appointment. There are no nurses or assistants that perform this procedure on patients.
What can I expect at a Kybella treatment
Each treatment differs from person to person. Prior to your treatment, your doctor will examine your chin to check if you are a good candidate for Kybella. After analysing the fat content amount and distribution in your chin, as well as understanding your aesthetic goals, your doctor will commence with a treatment plan. At a treatment, the patient receives multiple small injections in the desired area, with the whole process lasting between 15 to 20 minutes.
