Botox: Frequently Asked Questions

 In Botox

Botox is a popular FDA approved cosmetic treatment that is designed to reduce wrinkles, relax facial muscles and treat Hyperhidrosis. A purified protein, Botox is found naturally in our bodies, making it an ideal neuromodulator for temporarily mimalising muscle activity in certain areas where it is injected.

Who performs Botox treatments at the Toronto Plastic Surgery Center?

Botox Injections

When you make an appointment at the Toronto Plastic Surgery Center, you will receive personal attention from Dr. Pirani himself. It is a matter of pride that each client’s Botox treatment is administered by Dr. Pirani himself, and not by any nurses or assistants. Understanding that each patient is unique, he does not leave the care and treatment of his patients to any other person, but handles each case himself.

Will Botox be a good solution for me?

If you have wrinkles on your face, laughter lines, crow’s feet and smokers lines around your face, lips and neck, and wish to have them corrected, make an appointment with Dr. Pirani to see if you are a good candidate for Botox. Botox also helps correct many other conditions, which you can discuss in depth with Dr. Pirani at your consultation.

What should I discuss with my doctor before receiving Botox?

If you have or will be undergoing surgery, you must tell your doctor in your initial consultation. If you have ever experienced any side effects from a previous Botox treatment or suffer from certain conditions, you must divulge details to your doctor so that you have a safe Botox treatment.

When will the results of my Botox treatment be fully visible?

Botox is also known as a lunchtime procedure as this can be done in your lunch break, with no downtime. Results are visible after 24 hours to 72 hours, but full results can take up to two weeks to show as it takes time for your muscles to relax.

What is the Recovery Time for a Botox procedure?

You can walk in for your treatment in your lunch break and walk straight back to work when it is done. You can resume all normal activities after your Botox procedure, and may experience mild bruising or slight redness, but that disappears within a few hours to a day. You are recommended not to lie down for 4 hours after your Botox treatment to allow the Botox to settle in the area it is injected into, instead of moving to a different area. You are also advised to avoid any strenuous activities or massages on the treated area for at least a day or two after your treatment.

How long does Botox last?

Botox treatments last for three months up to six months, but individual results vary from client to client, the treated area and your skin.

Is there a limited amount of Botox injections I can receive?

You can have unlimited injections over the course of your treatments, as recommended by your doctor. However, your body’s muscle memory may remember the effects of Botox treatments over time and with continued use of Botox injections, the time period between your Botox treatments can increase.
