Who is a good candidate for this procedure?

If you are concerned about hollow and depressed areas around your eyes, then you may be a good candidate for an injectable filler treatment.

What should I expect during my procedure?

Before you come in for your procedure, you will need to stop taking any anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen or naproxen, as well as blood thinning medications, such as aspirin. This is to help prevent bruising from the procedure.

Your dermal filler procedure is relatively quick, taking anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Most patients experience some swelling after the procedure. Though most swelling will go down in the first 24 hours, you could still experience swelling for about a week after receiving your injections.

Who will perform this procedure?

Dr. Pirani performs all injections himself, ensuring you receive the best care possible. As a board certified plastic surgeon, he is one of the few plastic surgeons in the Toronto area who has also had formal fellowship training in cosmetic plastic surgery.

Is this treatment safe?

These treatment methods have been tried and tested. Your safety is of utmost importance to us and our highly trained physicians and care providers will do everything to keep you safe.

How long will the results last?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance within your body, so over time, your body will metabolize it. Filler injected under the eyes can last up to a year.

Recovery

You may experience a small amount of swelling and/or bruising for a few days. Many individuals go back to work immediately after having their soft tissue filler procedure. If you do experience some bruising, it can almost always be concealed with makeup.

Consultation

For a tear trough consultation, Dr. Pirani will spend approximately 30 minutes discussing your options, going over risks and possible complications, and giving you an idea of what to expect in terms of results and recovery. Although this initial consultation is quite thorough, the procedure itself is relatively quick, and many patients come in for injectable dermal filler treatments during their lunch breaks to maximize efficiency. Dr. Pirani’s goal is to educate you so that you feel confident and informed, and he and the Toronto Plastic Surgery Center team will do everything possible to accommodate your schedule.
